Some of the walls would have had grape vines and peaches trained against them under glass. Here you can see the flues through which heat from a fireplace would have travelled to protect tender shoots and blossoms. Currently under occupation by nesting jackdaws!
Avenue of old, and some unusual, pear varieties. Tangled crowns and choked with ivy.
